The best recommendations are always shared amongst friends, especially when it comes to Miami dining. Fortunate was I to learn of Morgans in the Miami Design District (www.themorgansrestaurant.com) one pleasant Sunday morning. By the recommendation of friends visiting from out of town, it was agreed to visit this trendy eatery.
It is suggested to arrive early if having a preference of seating inside or out as Morgans is a popular Miami destination. Along with a spacious public area downstairs, there are many private rooms upstairs, all happily floral and bright. The evolution of this structure from spacious house to restaurant produces a comfortable yet vibrant atmosphere.
It is recommended to share a pitcher of Hibiscus or Bellini to start, as the fruity tastes elicit an energetic reaction. The Brunch hour offerings are delectable with standouts including the Voluptuous Grilled Cheese (worth an extra half hour on the treadmill), Pillow Light Brioche French Toast (aptly titled), and the Morgans Salad (an amazing mixture of shitake mushrooms, beets, walnuts with sprinkles of goat cheese – absolutely incredible!).
It was agreed that this restaurant would serve well for a social function because of the aforementioned private rooms and a return visit was made months later for dinner. As with our introductory visit to Morgans, the service was highlighted by attention to detail, friendly atmosphere, and anticipation of needs. Sean and Cat achieved this high level of satisfaction during both visits.
Dinner at Morgans presents a varied wine list and scrumptious meals for all ages. Appetizers include a hearty plate of Fried Calamari and the Mac and Cheese, almost as voluptuous as its Grilled Cheese mate. A major standout for dinner was the Moroccan Style Stew (worth a visit at www.themorgansrestaurant.com for the ingredients). Perusing the menu will present a plentiful assortment of meat and fish options, including a well prepared Local Mahi Mahi and a hearty Meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes. The Crème Brulee stands out as a desert option.
Morgans in the Miami Design District gets this vote as a top choice for all occasions: extremely capable of rewarding your taste buds with outstanding service to match.
